Mountain Skies Astronomical Society (MSAS) is a 501(c)(3) California Non-Profit Public Benefit Corporation. Through membership support, our organization develops and maintains the MSAS Astronomy Village facility, acquires science resources for our lender library, provides educational programs for students in grades K-12 and the general public, and supports graduate level research for 5 universities.
We are funded by the generosity of our patrons and the commitment of our members. We receive no government funding. We meet our mission and maintain our facilities through the kindness and generosity of our supporters.
Unlike a "local club", Mountain Skies Astronomical Society promotes education in astronomy and related sciences by providing resources and educational programs for its members and the general public. Special emphasis is placed on the educational "tools" of science to promote scientific interest and understanding.
Our unique lender library provides members with books, telescopes, CD's and many other tools. Books range from easy-to-read children’s material to complex astrophysical theory.
